A trailblazer in athletic training, higher education leadership, and student-athlete advocacy, Dr. Carlitta M. Moore has dedicated her career to advancing the health, success, and development of student-athletes while leaving an enduring impact on Fayetteville State University and the athletic training profession. Her contributions as a clinician, administrator, educator, mentor, and leader have made her one of the most influential figures in the history of Bronco Athletics.

Dr. Moore's connection to Fayetteville State Athletics began in 2003 as a student volunteer in the university's Athletic Training Department. Through dedication, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to student-athlete welfare, she quickly became an indispensable member of the sports medicine staff. During her undergraduate years, she served as a first responder and worked with all athletic programs while helping provide medical coverage and support during a period of departmental transition.

Following her graduation in 2007, Dr. Moore continued to build her professional credentials before returning to Fayetteville State in 2012 as Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer, becoming the university's first African American female Head Athletic Trainer. In that role, she transformed the Sports Medicine program and enhanced the healthcare services available to Bronco student-athletes. Under her leadership, the department expanded its medical network to include orthopedic, family medicine, and chiropractic physicians, significantly strengthening the quality of care available to student-athletes. She also secured critical upgrades to the athletic training facility, elevating the overall standard of sports medicine services across the department.

Her impact extended far beyond the athletic training room. Dr. Moore played a key role in developing the university's 2020-2025 Strategic Plan and the Athletics Department's Operational Plan and Assessment Report, helping shape the future direction of Fayetteville State University and its athletics program. She also demonstrated a deep commitment to philanthropy and student success, raising approximately $27,000 in scholarships and support for Fayetteville State students in just four months as part of her tenure as Ms. FSU Alumni 2015-16.

Her leadership and service earned numerous honors, including:

  • FSU Staff Employee of the Year (2016)
  • FSU Young Philanthropist of the Year (2016)
  • Ms. FSU Alumni (2015-16)
  • Arkansas State University Excellence in Diversity Award (2024)
  • Arkansas State University Champion of Diversity Award (2023)
  • Women Leaders in College Sports HBCU Scholarship Recipient (2017)
  • American Association of Blacks in Higher Education Dissertation Honorable Mention (2019)

Throughout her career, Dr. Moore has consistently championed leadership, equity, and student engagement. While at Fayetteville State, she served on the CIAA Management Council, the UNC System Staff Assembly Executive Board, the university's Staff Senate, and numerous campus committees focused on student well-being, health education, and institutional effectiveness. She also advised student organizations and actively supported community outreach initiatives.

Following her service at Fayetteville State, Dr. Moore continued her ascent as a nationally respected higher education administrator and athletic training educator at Arkansas State University. She earned early promotion to Associate Professor and later became the institution's first Black female Vice Chancellor, leading the Division of Access and Institutional Engagement.

Nationally, Dr. Moore has emerged as a leader within both higher education and athletic training. She serves on the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) Board of Commissioners, helping shape standards and policies that impact athletic training programs across the country. She also serves as Vice President of Programming and President-Elect of the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education (AABHE), while contributing to diversity and inclusion initiatives through leadership positions with the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Arkansas Athletic Trainers' Association.
