Kiara Reid and the FSU bowling team are set to host a CIAA Western Division tournament this weekend.

Kiara Reid, a native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, graduated from Rocky Mount High School. Since she was nine years old, Kiara bowled in leagues in Rocky Mount at The Bowling Center as a youth and junior bowler. After graduating high school, Kiara attended Fayetteville State University on a bowling scholarship.

Kiara made an impact on the FSU Women’s Bowling Team. As a rookie, she was named CIAA Rookie Bowler of the Week multiple times in her first season. In 2012 and 2013, she was named to the CIAA All-Conference Team, in 2012 named to the CIAA All-Tournament Team, and in 2012 named CIAA Tournament MVP. Kiara was a part of the Lady Bronco’s historic 600th win, the first CIAA program to reach this honor. As team captain in 2012, Kiara was named the Lady Bronco’s bowling team Most Valuable Player by legendary head coach Bobby Henderson. Kiara’s 2012 season was one of the best individual seasons of any student-athlete on the FSU campus. She rose to great heights in the CIAA, leading her team to a league championship by picking up a 5-10 split and finishing second in the league in scoring average. She was named FSU’s Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 2012.

Kiara graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Birth-Kindergarten Education and a minor in Social Work. Post-graduation, she went on to work at Cumberland County Schools as a Kindergarten teacher. After two years in Cumberland County, she transitioned to Wake County Public Schools as a Kindergarten Teacher where she won Teacher of the Year in 2019-2021 for her school. In June 2022, Kiara left elementary education and currently works for a curriculum and assessment company. In October 2022, Kiara, with distinction, graduated with her Master’s Degree in Education from Capella University.

Kiara currently resides in Garner, North Carolina, with her Yorkshire Terrier. Still an active bowler she bowls in a league twice a week in Raleigh, North Carolina. She has been a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated since 2011.
