Junior guard Dane Stewart brings toughness, defensive intensity, and a team-first mentality to the Fayetteville State men's basketball program. A native of Mooresville, North Carolina, the 5-foot-10, 162-pound guard joins the Broncos after a successful career at Davidson-Davie Community College. Stewart is pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity and is expected to graduate in 2028.
Before arriving at Fayetteville State, Stewart attended Mooresville Senior High School, where he earned Academic A/B Honor Roll recognition. He continued to excel both on the court and in the classroom at Davidson-Davie CC, earning NJCAA Region 10 Defensive Player of the Year honors while also maintaining Academic A/B Honor Roll status.
Stewart credits his father, family, and the coaches who helped shape his journey as the biggest influences on his athletic career. Their support, sacrifices, and guidance continue to motivate him every time he steps on the floor. His pregame routine includes prayer, helping him stay focused and grounded before competition.
Away from basketball, Stewart enjoys listening to music and trying new experiences. Looking ahead, he hopes to continue playing basketball professionally overseas while also pursuing a career in the growing field of cybersecurity.
Stewart chose Fayetteville State because of the family atmosphere, tradition, and support shown throughout the athletic department. As a Bronco, he values the unity among student-athletes and the culture of support that exists across all sports programs. Through his leadership, work ethic, and commitment to serving others through volunteer work and charitable efforts, Stewart aims to make a positive impact both on and off the court.
