Freshman guard Drew Johnson brings scoring ability, versatility, and a competitive mindset to the Fayetteville State men's basketball program. A native of Durham, North Carolina, the 6-foot, 170-pound point guard/shooting guard joins the Broncos following a standout career at The Burlington School. Johnson is pursuing a degree in Business Administration and Marketing and is expected to graduate in 2030.
Before arriving at Fayetteville State, Johnson excelled on the court at The Burlington School, where he earned All-Conference honors twice and surpassed the 1,000-point milestone during his high school career. In addition to basketball, he competed in track and field, showcasing the athleticism and speed that have become key parts of his game.
Johnson credits his father as his biggest athletic influence, helping shape both his development as a player and his approach to competition. His dedication to improving his game has positioned him as an exciting addition to the Broncos' backcourt.
Away from basketball, Johnson enjoys hiking trails and playing video games with friends. Looking toward the future, he hopes to continue his basketball career professionally while building on the knowledge and experiences gained through his academic studies.
Johnson chose Fayetteville State because of the opportunity to play collegiate basketball and the strength of the university's Business program. As a student-athlete, he values the strong sense of community that defines the Fayetteville State experience and looks forward to contributing to the Broncos' success both on and off the court.
