Senior forward Tyrone "Ty" Iroghama brings international experience, size, and determination to the Fayetteville State men's basketball program. A native of London, England, the 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward joins the Broncos after competing at Mississippi Valley State. Iroghama is pursuing a degree in Business and is expected to graduate in 2028.
Before arriving at Fayetteville State, Iroghama attended The Norwood School and also developed his game with the Brixton Topcats, one of England's most respected basketball programs. His commitment to excellence extended beyond the court, as he earned recognition on the Dean's List twice, achieved Chancellor's List honors, and maintained perfect attendance during his academic career.
Throughout his collegiate journey, Iroghama has gained valuable experience competing at a high level, highlighted by reaching conference tournaments during every season of his collegiate career. One of his most memorable sports experiences came on his birthday when his team defeated the No. 4-ranked junior college team in the nation, a victory that remains one of the defining moments of his basketball career.
Iroghama credits NBA superstar LeBron James as his biggest athletic influence. Before games, he follows a routine that includes prayer several hours before tipoff and meditation to maintain focus and mental clarity. He also draws motivation from regular phone calls with his mother, Joy Oghogho, whose support has played a vital role in his success.
Away from basketball, Iroghama enjoys watching television shows and anime. Looking ahead, he hopes to continue his basketball career professionally by playing overseas and pursuing opportunities at the next level.
Iroghama chose Fayetteville State because of the program's culture and coaching staff. What makes Fayetteville State special to him is the university's commitment to supporting its student-athletes and investing in the success of its athletic programs. As he enters his final collegiate season, Iroghama is eager to help the Broncos compete for championships while making the most of his experience as a Fayetteville State student-athlete.
