Senior forward Kevin "Slim" Nevers Jr. brings leadership, versatility, and a team-first mentality to the Fayetteville State men's basketball program. A native of Washington, D.C., Nevers wears No. 12 for the Broncos and has become a respected presence on and off the court during his collegiate career.
Nevers attended Calvin Coolidge Senior High School, where he was an Honor Roll student and competed in both basketball and baseball. His dedication to academics has continued at Fayetteville State, where he has earned Dean's List recognition while pursuing a degree in Cyber Security.
Throughout his basketball journey, Nevers has relied on a strong support system that includes his high school coaches Jeremy Underwood, Xavier Washington, and Derrick Washington, as well as teammate Stephan Walker, trainer Lesley Ballard, his parents, and his older sister. Their influence has helped shape his approach to athletics, academics, and personal growth.
Away from basketball, Nevers enjoys DJing, gaming, and working on cars. He is also committed to serving others through community engagement. His service includes reading to students at Margaret Willis Elementary School, providing haircuts for fathers at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, helping feed families through the DC Wise One Thanksgiving initiative, and participating in Black History Month programming at Two Rivers Public Charter School. In addition, he is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, where he continues to develop as a leader and mentor.
As a student-athlete, Nevers strives to represent Fayetteville State with pride while making a positive impact both within the university and throughout the community.
