GAME 2 | Fayetteville State 5, Johnson C. Smith 2
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina --Fayetteville State wasted no time seizing control on Friday afternoon, scoring three runs in the opening inning and riding strong pitching from Laila Holloway and Tamarah Lowery to a 5–2 victory over Johnson C. Smith in Charlotte. Holloway earned the win with three innings of work, allowing two earned runs on six hits, while Lowery shut the door with four scoreless frames that included five strikeouts.
The Broncos' fast start set the tone. After back‑to‑back singles from Jazzmyn Ohlson and Madison Heath, Sydney Jackson delivered a two‑run single to right center. Moments later, an error allowed Jackson to score, giving Fayetteville State a 3–0 lead before the Golden Bulls recorded their third out. The momentum carried into the third inning, when Claira Stone ripped a two‑out RBI double to extend the advantage to 4–0.
Johnson C. Smith responded with two runs in the bottom half of the third, stringing together four hits to cut the deficit in half. But Lowery's entrance into the circle halted the rally and kept the Golden Bulls from gaining any more ground. Fayetteville State added an insurance run in the fifth when A'Leah Wilson scored on a passed ball, pushing the lead to 5–2.
Stone continued her strong day at the plate with another double in the sixth, finishing 2‑for‑3 with two extra‑base hits and two RBIs. Jackson reached base twice and drove in two, while the Broncos played error‑free defense and limited Johnson C. Smith to just two hits over the final four innings.
With the win, Fayetteville State improved to 16–7 overall and 9–3 in conference play, securing a sweep of the day and maintaining its momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
