Claira Stone has become a key contributor for the Fayetteville State Broncos softball team, anchoring the defense as a dependable catcher while providing consistency at the plate. The junior from Canada brings grit and leadership to every game. Stone plays with a big presence behind the plate, combining quick reflexes and strong game awareness to guide her pitchers and control the base paths.
Stone’s collegiate career highlights her steady performance. In 54 games over two seasons, she has posted a .211 batting average with 30 hits, including 7 doubles and a triple, and driven in 19 runs. Her best offensive season came in 2024, when she hit .268 with 22 hits and 8 RBIs, showcasing her ability to deliver in key moments. Defensively, Stone has been a rock for the Broncos, recording 246 putouts and 40 assists with an impressive .983 career fielding percentage, including a near-perfect .995 mark in 2024.
Before joining FSU, Stone starred at the National Sport School in Canada, earning Academic Honor Roll recognition throughout high school. Her commitment to excellence continued in college, where she earned the highest GPA award as a freshman. Off the field, she is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with plans to become a kindergarten teacher—a goal inspired by her passion for shaping young minds.
Stone credits her parents as her greatest inspiration, calling them “the most supportive and best people in the entire world.” Her proudest softball memory came when she represented Team Canada in the Senior League Softball World Series—twice—a testament to her talent and dedication to the sport.
