Laila Holloway joins the Fayetteville State Broncos softball program as an experienced right-handed pitcher with a strong background in collegiate competition. Standing at 5’6”, the Winston-Salem, North Carolina native brings poise and leadership to the circle as a senior. Holloway previously played at NC Wesleyan, where she logged significant innings and developed into a reliable arm.
During her time at NC Wesleyan, Holloway appeared in 16 games in 2022, starting 10, and posted a 4.43 ERA over 55.1 innings pitched. She recorded 16 strikeouts, earned four wins, and completed two games while adding two saves. Her ability to handle pressure and work deep into games made her a key contributor for the Battling Bishops. At the plate, Holloway also showed flashes of versatility, finishing her career there with a .333 batting average in limited opportunities.
Off the field, Holloway is pursuing a degree in Biology (Pre-Health) with plans to attend physical therapy school after graduation. Her academic focus reflects her passion for understanding the human body and helping others recover and thrive. She credits her mother as her greatest inspiration, sharing how her mom’s sacrifices—catching for her at pitching lessons before work and supporting her dreams—shaped her journey to collegiate softball.
One unique fact about Laila? She is double-jointed in both shoulders, a fun detail that surprises many. Her favorite experience at FSU so far has been joining Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., a milestone that made her parents proud as they share the same Greek legacy.
With her experience, determination, and leadership, Laila Holloway is ready to make an impact for the Broncos in her senior season—both on the field and in the classroom.
