SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Fayetteville State's offense delivered eight hits and three home runs, but Converse used a pair of big innings to pull away for a 15–7 victory on Sunday afternoon at Tyger River Stadium. The loss moves the Broncos to 1–5 on the season.
Converse opened the scoring with three runs in the first inning on back‑to‑back home runs from T. Karabach and K. Thomas. Fayetteville State quickly answered in the second when Tiara Stueck launched a two‑run homer to right center, scoring Treja Patterson and trimming the deficit to 3–2.
After Converse added two in the third, the Broncos surged back in the fourth. Kendall Jackson delivered a game‑tying three‑run home run to left, scoring Sydney Jackson and Xztashya Porter to make it 5–5.
The Valkyries responded with a decisive six‑run bottom half, using a fielder's choice, a sacrifice fly, another home run by Thomas, and three straight RBI hits to reclaim an 11–5 advantage.
Patterson brought Fayetteville State back within striking distance in the fifth, crushing a two‑run homer to right after Madison Heath led off the inning with a single. But Converse again answered, scoring four runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by a pair of RBI doubles from T. Karabach and A. Felker, to secure the run‑rule win.
Patterson led the Broncos at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two runs and a two‑run homer. Stueck, K. Jackson, Heath, Wilson, and Rumbold also recorded hits for FSU. The Broncos committed three errors.
Converse was paced by a dominant performance from Karabach, who went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including a homer, a double, and a sacrifice fly. Thomas added two home runs and three RBIs.
G. Stucki (2–6) earned the win in relief for Converse, while Tamarah Lowery (1–1) took the loss after allowing eight runs in 2.1 innings.
