Broncos Sweep Rams to Close Regular Season with Eleventh Straight Victory

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – On Senior Night inside Felton J. Capel Arena, Fayetteville St. celebrated its graduating student-athletes with a dominant 3-0 victory over Winston-Salem, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-10 to close out the regular season. The win extended the Broncos' winning streak to 11 matches and improved their record to 22-4 overall and 19-3 in CIAA play, while the Rams concluded the season at 17-12 overall and 13-9 in conference action.

The Broncos overcame an early deficit in the opening set before using a 13-1 run fueled by strong serving and defense to pull away for a 25-20 win. Kemyah Harris sparked the turnaround with a service ace and several key points as Fayetteville State erased an 18-14 deficit and closed the frame on an 11-2 run.

Fayetteville State carried that momentum into the second set, racing to a 17-6 advantage behind aggressive play at the net. Consecutive service aces from Jasmine Culp highlighted the stretch as the Broncos cruised to a 25-12 set victory.

The Broncos dominated the third set from the start, jumping out to a 4-0 lead and never looking back. Harris again controlled the service line during an extended run that pushed the advantage to 19-5, helping Fayetteville State complete the sweep with a 25-10 final-set win.

Harris led the Broncos with eight kills and four service aces, while Destiny Washington added seven kills, two aces and three blocks. Amori Johnson contributed six kills, and Kyla Powell finished with five kills and two total blocks. Jasmine Culp anchored the defense with a match-high 11 digs and added two aces. Giovanna Teixeira recorded 14 assists, while Melissa Gonzalez added nine assists.

The Rams managed 18 kills and were led by Sarah Sanders and Zoe Chesson, who recorded three kills each.

The Broncos will next travel to Rocky Mount for the CIAA Volleyball Championship, which begins Nov. 9, as they look to carry their eleven-match winning streak into postseason play.
