HIGH POINT, N.C. – Fayetteville State women's outdoor track and field competed against a strong field that included multiple Division I programs at the VertKlasse Meet hosted by High Point University, with the Broncos turning in solid performances across the throws, distance, sprints, jumps and hurdles.
The throwing group led the way throughout the weekend. Adriana Quamina continued her strong outdoor season, finishing eighth in the discus with a mark of 43.99 meters (144 feet, 4 inches) while competing against elite competition. Aaliyah Whyte recorded a season-best throw of 40.23 meters (132 feet) in the event, and Paige Simmons‑Norris posted a personal best of 40.21 meters (131 feet, 11 inches) to give the Broncos three strong discus performances.
In the shot put, Whyte delivered another standout effort, placing 12th overall with a mark of 13.14 meters (43 feet, 1½ inches). Quamina followed with a 21st‑place finish at 12.29 meters (40 feet, 4 inches), while Simmons‑Norris added a throw of 11.42 meters (37 feet, 5 inches).
The distance squad also fared well. Faith Kiplimo placed sixth overall in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:14.02. Ashley Bell posted a strong double, clocking 4:58 in the 1500 meters and 2:26.34 in the 800 meters. Nia Gibson recorded times of 2:22 in the 800 meters and 5:14 in the 1500 meters, continuing her steady season progression.
In the sprints, Fayetteville State saw positive performances from Amaya Cummings, who ran 12.52 in the 100 meters, while Angel Scott followed closely with a 12.57 showing competitive speed against a deep sprint field.
The jump group added key highlights for the Broncos. Abraonna Williams finished 11th overall in the long jump with a leap of 5.61 meters (18 feet, 5 inches). In the high jump, Zaria Gool placed fifth, clearing 1.52 meters (4 feet, 11 inches).
The hurdlers closed the meet with several personal bests. Taniya Dickerson recorded a personal-best 15.06 in the 100-meter hurdles and followed with another personal best of 1:06.73 in the 400-meter hurdles. Tanzania Washington also posted a personal-best 14.99 in the 100-meter hurdles and added a 1:14.70 performance in the 400-meter hurdles.
Fayetteville State used the VertKlasse Meet as a valuable opportunity to compete against top-level competition, collect personal and season bests, and continue building momentum as the outdoor season moves forward. They will travel to Durham, NC, for the Duke Invitational on Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11.
