2025-26 Track and Field Roster
Biography
Sprinter and hurdler Taniya Dickerson joins Fayetteville State after a standout career at Independence High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. One of the state’s rising sprint talents in the Class of 2025, Dickerson made her mark as a dynamic dual-event athlete, excelling in both the sprints and the hurdles. She graduated as the Independence 300-meter hurdles school-record holder and a two-time state champion, contributing to titles in the Indoor 4x200m relay and the Outdoor 4x100m relay.
A multi-sport competitor, Dickerson also played basketball in high school, showcasing her all-around athleticism and competitive drive. Her speed, versatility, and competitive poise made her one of the key additions to FSU’s 2026 recruiting class.
Dickerson chose Fayetteville State because she believed it would be the right environment to launch both her athletic and academic journey. Now majoring in Nursing, she is focused on balancing her ambitions on the track with her long-term goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Known for her creativity and personality off the track, she enjoys cooking, doing hair, and listening to music—passions that keep her grounded as she trains and competes at the collegiate level.
As she begins her freshman season, Dickerson looks to build on her championship foundation and contribute immediately to the Broncos’ sprint and hurdle groups.
