BLUEFIELD, Va. – Fayetteville State men's golf continued its push toward the CIAA Championship with a solid showing at the CIAA Northern Division Tournament, hosted by Bluefield State at Fincastle Country Club on March 30–31.
The Broncos placed third in the team standings at +69 through three rounds, remaining firmly in the championship conversation as the postseason approaches.
After opening with a difficult first round, Fayetteville State responded with steady improvement over the final two rounds, posting scores of +16 and +22, underscoring the team's ability to adjust and compete down the stretch.
Sutton Dreier led Fayetteville State with a tied-for-sixth-place finish at +10, earning 20.77 divisional points. Dreier was consistent throughout the tournament and closed with a strong final-round +2, positioning himself among the top performers in the division.
Competing as an individual, Donald Barnett posted a tied-for-12th finish at +15, collecting 13.69 divisional points. Barnett recorded rounds of +5, +4, and +6, contributing valuable points and reinforcing Fayetteville State's overall postseason depth.
Landon Cabingas finished tied for 14th at +16, while Patricio Ramirez placed tied for 17th at +18, giving the Broncos multiple players inside the top 20 of a competitive field. Allan Terrazas and Andrew McCarver continued to gain valuable tournament experience as the championship season draws closer.
The three-round tournament featured Northern Division opponents and multiple Bluefield State squads, with player standings directly impacting CIAA Championship positioning.
With multiple golfers earning divisional points and team scoring trending in the right direction, Fayetteville State heads toward the CIAA Championships focused on tightening execution and capitalizing on its growing momentum.
