Biography

Junior golfer Andrew McCarver enters the 2025–26 season as a key contributor for the Fayetteville State University men’s golf program. Standing 6’2” and 185 pounds, McCarver brings competitive experience, composure, and a growing track record of success to the Broncos’ lineup.

A native of Ringgold, Georgia, McCarver graduated from Ringgold High School in 2021, where he was a multi-sport athlete competing in golf, football, and baseball. His diverse athletic background helped shape his competitive mindset, but golf ultimately emerged as his passion. Before arriving at FSU, he competed at Cleveland State Community College, where he achieved one of the top highlights of his early collegiate career—being crowned the NJCAA Division II Southeast District Individual Champion.

Now a Business major and NCAA junior, McCarver continues to elevate his game at Fayetteville State. During the 2025–26 season, he posted a 79.4 adjusted scoring average across nine rounds, competing in notable tournaments such as the UC Invitational, Rodeo at the Ridge, and the Bluefield State Intercollegiate. He earned a national ranking of #1137 and regional ranking of #119, while accumulating 12.40 weighted points on the season.

Off the course, McCarver is known for his sharp mind and unique talents—including solving a Rubik’s Cube and typing 120 words per minute. His leadership and focus are rooted in the influence of his parents, Amber Allen, a Kansas University alumna, and Patrick McCarver, a Mars Hill graduate. Andrew credits both for shaping his athletic drive and character.

Some of McCarver’s favorite sports memories include attending the 2022 Open Championship at St. Andrews and following the 2016 and 2017 NBA Finals, moments that fueled his love for high-level competition. Away from practice and competition, he enjoys playing video games and spending additional time on the golf course.

McCarver chose Fayetteville State University for its welcoming coaching staff, strong athletic training support, and the opportunity provided through his athletic scholarship. Looking ahead, he plans to pursue a career in the business world, beginning with opportunities in real estate.

As he continues his collegiate journey, McCarver remains a steady and driven presence for the Broncos—combining academic ambition, athletic discipline, and the competitive edge needed to help lead Fayetteville State golf forward.
