JOHNSTON, PA - Fayetteville State closed the 2026 NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional on a positive note, finishing 14th overall with a three-round score of 894 at the par-70 course. The Broncos carded rounds of 293, 303 and 298, bouncing back with a steady final day to conclude their postseason run against a deep regional field.
The final round was highlighted by a strong performance from
Sutton Dreier, who paced Fayetteville State with a 3-over-par 73 on Saturday. Dreier was consistent throughout the day, providing stability for the Broncos as they looked to finish the tournament on an upward trajectory.
By tournament's end, Dreier and
Landon Cabingas emerged as the team's top performers, finishing tied with identical scores of 224, good for 14-over-par across 54 holes.
At the top of the leaderboard, Gannon and Charleston (W.Va.) shared first place, each finishing with matching totals of 861. Gannon posted rounds of 285, 291 and 285, while Charleston followed with scores of 293, 288 and a tournament-best final-round 280. Wheeling secured third place at 866 after rounds of 289, 285 and 292. The top three teams earned advancement to the NCAA Division II National Championship.
Fayetteville State's final-round score of 298 reflected improved execution compared to the previous day and underscored the team's ability to adjust as the tournament progressed. While the Broncos fell short of advancing, the regional appearance marked another valuable postseason experience for the program and set a foundation moving forward.
