SALISBURY, N.C. — Fayetteville State completed the doubleheader sweep in emphatic fashion, using aggressive baserunning and a decisive fourth‑inning explosion to earn a 17–2 run‑rule win over Livingstone in Game 2 on Sunday.
The Lady Broncos struck quickly in the top of the first, as A'Leah Wilson drew a leadoff walk, stole third base, and scored on a wild pitch to put Fayetteville State on the board. Moments later, Tiara Stueck delivered an RBI single to drive in Sydney Jackson and give the Broncos a 2–0 advantage. Fayetteville State continued to apply pressure in the second inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues and plate discipline as Jackson worked another walk that brought home Tamarah Lowery, extending the lead to 3–0.
Behind the offense, Lowery was sharp in the circle early, retiring the side in order in the first inning and working out of traffic in the second to keep Livingstone off the scoreboard. The Broncos added another run in the third when Stueck stole home, and Wilson followed with an RBI single to score Madison Heath and push the lead to 5–0.
Livingstone responded with two runs in the bottom of the third on a double and a pair of wild pitches, cutting the margin to 5–2, but the momentum was short‑lived. Fayetteville State seized control in the fourth inning with a decisive nine‑run surge. The rally featured patient at‑bats, timely extra‑base hits, and aggressive baserunning, highlighted by back‑to‑back doubles from Wilson and Isabella Rumbold, followed by a two‑run double from Treja Patterson. By the end of the inning, the Broncos had opened up a commanding 14–2 lead.
The offense wasn't finished yet. In the fifth, Fayetteville State added three more runs as Jackson walked in a run and Patterson struck again with another two‑run double to make it 17–2. Lowery returned to the circle in the bottom of the inning and closed the game by recording the final three outs, including two strikeouts, to secure the run‑rule victory.
