Broncos Turn in Strong Showing at Livingstone Blue Bear Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – Fayetteville State women's track and field posted a series of strong performances Saturday at the Livingstone Blue Bear Invitational, highlighted by Adriana Quamina's near NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the discus and multiple podium finishes across the meet.

Quamina delivered one of the top efforts of the day in the discus, recording a throw of 45.23 meters (148 feet, 6 inches), narrowly missing the NCAA provisional standard of 45.53 meters. She added a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 11.57 meters (37 feet, 11 inches) and placed sixth in the javelin at 24.10 meters (79 feet, 1 inch), capping a productive all-around performance in the throwing events.

On the track, sophomore Videlma Jebet captured the 1500-meter title with a season-best time of 4:56.44. Fayetteville State continued to stack strong finishes in the event as Ashley Bell placed third in 5:10.37, Pelisha Kosgei finished fifth at 5:10.60, and Nia Gibson crossed the line close behind in 5:10.71.

In the distance races, Irene Jeptoo recorded a fourth-place finish in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:55.10, adding to the Broncos' scoring efforts.

The jump squads also produced podium results. Abraonna Williams led Fayetteville State in the long jump with a second-place finish, posting a mark of 5.33 meters (17 feet, 6 inches). In the high jump, Zaria Gool cleared a season-best 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch) to place third, while Jayda Wilson also posted a season-best height of 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches) to finish fifth.

In the hurdle events, Taniya Dickerson clocked a season-best 15.28 in the 100-meter hurdles, while Tanzania Washington finished sixth overall with a time of 15.48, continuing Fayetteville State's strong presence in the event.

Fayetteville State will return to action April 2–3 at the VertKlasse Meet in High Point, N.C., as the Broncos continue building toward the championship portion of the outdoor season.
