Drakeford combined their pitching skills to deliver a shutout on Friday, leading the Bowie State Bulldogs to a commanding 13-0 victory over the Fayetteville State Broncos. Despite a valiant effort from the Broncos, who had a couple of opportunities to score, they couldn't find their rhythm and took the loss. Freshman Tamarah Lowery started on the mound for Fayetteville State, showing promise but ultimately facing a tough lineup.
The Broncos had a couple of opportunities to score, with runners reaching third base twice during the game. Freshman A'Leah Wilson came closest to breaking the shutout in the third inning, advancing to third with one out, but the team couldn't capitalize on the chance.
Fayetteville State's pitchers faced 29 Bowie State hitters, managing to induce three ground balls and seven fly balls while recording one strikeout. At the plate, freshman Laniyah Bethea stood out for the Broncos, going 2-for-2 in her at-bats. On the opposing side, Bowie State's freshman J. Hill was a force to be reckoned with, hitting two home runs and driving in three runs. R. Dillard led the Bulldogs' pitching staff with four shutout innings, securing the win for Bowie State.
