VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - On Friday, the Fayetteville State Broncos had an impressive showing at the Marlin Invitational in Virginia Beach, VA, with several athletes delivering standout performances.
Ronee Tudor was a star on the track, dominating the Women's 60 Meters. She not only led the preliminaries with a time of 7.58 seconds but also clinched first place in the finals, clocking in at 7.60 seconds. Tudor also showcased her versatility in the Women's 200 Meters, finishing fifth with a time of 25.54 seconds.
Ziyah Etchison also had a strong meet, finishing third in the 60 Meters Preliminaries with a time of 7.76 seconds and sixth in the finals at 7.78 seconds. She continued to impress in the 200 Meters, securing eighth place with a time of 25.74 seconds.
In the Women's 400 Meters, Janya Moore delivered a solid performance, finishing fourth with a time of 58.93 seconds. Moore also contributed to the 4 x 400 Relay, where the A team, including Sierrah Matthews, Ashley Bell, and Gabrielle Cheek, finished third with a time of 4:07.97.
Ashley Bell shone in the Women's 800 Meters, taking third place with a time of 2:24.48. She was closely followed by Nia Gibson, who finished fourth at 2:25.64. Bell and Gibson also competed in the Women's Mile, with Bell finishing fourth (5:20.81) and Gibson sixth (5:29.41).
Mikalyn Chambers excelled in the Women's Long Jump, winning the event with a mark of 5.44m (17' 10.25"). Domanique Knowles was another standout in the field events, taking first place in the Women's Triple Jump with a mark of 11.28m (37' 0.25") and finishing fifth in the High Jump with a mark of 1.53m (5' 0.25").
Aaliyah Whyte had a remarkable meet in the throws, securing second place in both the Women's Shot Put with a throw of 13.01m (42' 8.25") and the Weight Throw with a mark of 14.87m (48' 9.5").
The Broncos' depth and talent were evident across multiple events, with numerous athletes achieving top finishes and personal bests. Their performances at the Marlin Invitational highlighted their competitive spirit and determination, setting a strong foundation for the rest of the season.Â
