MOUNT OLIVE, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos struggled on Thursday, falling to the Mount Olive (20-7 overall) Trojans 9-1 despite the efforts of freshman Xztashya Porter, who went 2-for-3 with a double.
Freshman Kevana Deberry (2-4) got the ball to start for Fayetteville State (4-10 overall) and took the loss.
At the plate, the Broncos were paced by Porter, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double. Freshman Camryn Alexander furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Fayetteville State got an RBI single from Alexander, scoring junior Laniyah Bethea from second base. The Broncos were unable to hold the lead, as Mount Olive scored nine times over the remaining four innings to grab the 9-1 win.
