GAME 2 | Fayetteville State 3, Saint Andrews (NC) 0
Fayetteville, NC -- Sophomore Hannah Mills was dealing on Wednesday, throwing a three-hit shutout to lead the Fayetteville State Broncos past the Saint Andrews (NC) Knights 3-0.
Mills (2-0) went the distance for Fayetteville State (4-6 overall), giving up three hits, walking one and striking out eight.
Offensively, the Broncos were led by freshman Claira Stone, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double. Sophomore Angelica Locklear compiled a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Freshman Aniya Caldwell also contributed for Fayetteville State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Fayetteville State plated two runs off of Saint Andrews (NC) pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of Locklear.
The Broncos also added a run in the second inning to complete their scoring in the ballgame.
