Dr. Miller Appointed CIAA-SWA Association Vice President

Charlotte, NC – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and it's Senior Woman Administrator Association (SWAA) have appointee new leadership for the 2021-23 seasons. Fayetteville State University's Dr. LaWanda Miller was named the Vice-President of the association with a two-year term that began on July 1, 2021.

Dr. Miller currently serves as the Assistant Athletics Director for Business Affairs at FSU. She is also the Senior Woman Administrator, Deputy Title IX Coordinator for the Department of Athletics, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Advisor, and Head Cheerleading Coach.

A central theme in her life has always been to serve in a capacity that would enhance diversity and expand opportunities for women with a special focus on minority opportunities within the athletics community.
Winston-Salem State University's LaTaya Hilliard-Gray was elected President of the association and Virginia Union University's Jacelyn Logan will serve on the executive team as secretary.

As a collective, the SWAA is instrumental in the selection of the Ms. CIAA award as well as submission of the CIAA NCAA Woman of the Year. In 2020, the CIAA had a Top 30 NCAA Woman of the Year honoree in Claflin University's Faith McKie. SWAA also coordinates Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) initiatives, serves on CIAA Championship committees, supports Women's History Month, and Student-Athlete Week social media initiatives.

The mission of the CIAA SWA Association is to clarify and articulate the role of the SWA on individual campuses in the conference, enhance the level of institutional support for SWA's to ensure gender equity on their respective campuses and across the conference. Provide educational opportunities to student-athletes, coaches, staff, and administrators, and offer a collective voice on Division II issues of significance to the CIAA and its campuses.
