FAYETTEVILLE, NC — Fayetteville State University (FSU) student‑athletes continued to excel in the classroom during the Fall 2025 semester, expanding the number of Broncos achieving a 3.0 GPA or better, celebrating 16 graduates during Winter Commencement, and showcasing strong team academic performances across the department.
A total of
171 student‑athletes earned a 3.0 or higher in Fall 2025 (up from 151 in Spring 2025). Within that group,
93 posted a 3.5+ GPA, and
31 achieved a perfect 4.0. The department's Fall 2025 average GPA was
3.33, reinforcing FSU's commitment to academic excellence.
"These results reflect the consistency and commitment our student‑athletes bring to everything they do," said
Anthony Bennett, FSU Director of Athletics. "Growing our 3.0+ cohort while maintaining near‑record totals at the 3.5 and 4.0 levels, and celebrating 16 graduates, speaks to the culture our coaches, faculty, and academic support team are building at Fayetteville State."
The Broncos' success was widespread, with every program contributing to the 3.0+ GPA cohort.
Football led all teams with 61 student‑athletes at 3.0 or better, representing more than one‑third of the department's high achievers.
Women's Track & Field followed with 25, while
Men's Basketball and Softball each had 15.
Women's Basketball added 14, and
Volleyball contributed 11. Cheerleading accounted for 10, Golf and Men's Cross Country each had 6, Bowling had 5, and Women's Cross Country rounded out the list with 3.
This distribution underscores the depth of academic commitment across FSU Athletics, from large roster sports to smaller programs, and highlights the department's holistic approach to student‑athlete success.
