Bronco Spirit Lights Up Warrenwood Elementary on the First Day of School

Fayetteville, NC – The first day of school at Warrenwood Elementary in Fayetteville, NC, was anything but ordinary this year, thanks to a surprise visit from Fayetteville State University athletes. In celebration of the school's "Game On: Championship Bound!" theme for the academic year, the Broncos brought their energy, enthusiasm, and championship spirit straight to Warrenwood's front doors.

Warrenwood students were greeted by over 30 FSU student athletes with a tunnel of cheers, high-fives, and encouraging chants. Dressed in their Bronco gear and bright smiles, the student-athletes lined the sidewalks and entryways, turning the school's arrival into a pep rally of positivity.

Children stepped off the buses and immediately engaged with the athletes, walking confidently with smiles on their faces as the athletes clapped and cheered them on. Parents and staff watched with joy as the Broncos shouted messages like "Happy first day of school!" and "Welcome back!"—setting the tone for a school year filled with confidence and community.

Principal Kanisha Jones-Dunor, a proud alumna of Fayetteville State University, Class of 2001, said, "Having FSU Athletics here with us today—especially as an alum—highlights the importance of giving back and showing our students the value of pride, perseverance, and community. Proud to be a Bronco still!"

The "Game On" theme for this year was fueled by the staff of Warrenwood wanting their young scholars to know that the end goal is for them to be successful in their academics no matter the obstacles they may face.

She also extended a special thank you to Senior Women's Administrator Inez Turner and Senior Associate Athletic Director for Marketing, Development, and Operations Michael King for reaching out to make this moment a reality.
