MEBANE, N.C. – The Fayetteville State University men's golf team will begin postseason play this week as the Broncos tee off in the opening round of the 2026 CIAA Golf Championship at Mill Creek Golf Course in Mebane, North Carolina.
Fayetteville State enters the championship as the Southern Division Champion and the No. 2 team overall in the final 2026 CIAA standings, posting a two-tournament total of 1,828 strokes. The Broncos followed a second-place finish at the Southern Division Tournament (919) with another runner-up showing at the Northern Division Tournament (909), positioning themselves squarely among the conference's elite heading into the championship round.
Bluefield State claimed the top overall seed with a 1,791 total, while Winston-Salem State (1,833) and Virginia State (1,858) round out the top four in the championship field.
Fayetteville State's strength throughout the season has come from its depth and consistency across the lineup. Sutton Dreier headlines the Broncos after earning All-CIAA honors, finishing fourth overall in total strokes across six rounds (446). Dreier's steady play at both the Northern (220) and Southern (226) tournaments made him Fayetteville State's top individual performer this season.
The Broncos also placed multiple golfers just outside the All-CIAA cutoff, underscoring the team's balance:
- Landon Cabingas – Tied for 12th overall (461)
- Patrico Ramirez – Tied for 12th overall (461)
- Donald Barnett – Tied for 20th overall (469)
- Allan Terrszas – Tied for 20th overall (469)
All five Fayetteville State golfers finished among the top 20 individually across the conference's Northern and Southern tournaments combined.
Mill Creek Golf Course provides a championship-caliber test, demanding precision off the tee and a disciplined short game—areas where Fayetteville State has shown growth throughout the spring. With championship experience, championship depth, and a season-long body of work that includes a division title, the Broncos enter the CIAA Golf Championship focused on contending for the program's next conference crown.
The opening round of the 2026 CIAA Golf Championship begins Monday morning, with team and individual champions to be crowned following the completion of championship play.
