Broncos Dominate Bowie State with 108-80 Victory Behind Howell’s Double-Double

FAYETTEVILLE, NC --Fayetteville State men's basketball delivered an offensive showcase on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Bowie State 108-80 inside Capel Arena. The win moves the Broncos to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in CIAA play, while the Bulldogs drop to 4-13 and 2-4 in the conference.

Larry Howell powered the Broncos with a commanding 23-point, 10-rebound double-double, going a perfect 12-for-12 from the free-throw line. Howell was joined by Romeo Aquino, who added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Travon Cooper, who chipped in 12 points and two blocks.

The Broncos showcased exceptional ball movement, recording 18 assists on 35 made field goals. Terrell Williams led the way with four assists, while Tyler Gill contributed three. Fayetteville State also controlled the glass, finishing with a 54-41 rebounding advantage, including 25 offensive boards that led to 34 second-chance points.

Off the bench, Ezekiel Cannedy provided a spark with 17 points, and Ibrahim Kourouma added 10 points, helping the reserves combine for 46 points in the win.

Fayetteville State wasted no time asserting dominance, jumping out to a 52-30 lead before closing the first half on a 9-0 run, capped by a Mathias Billings basket, to take a commanding 61-30 advantage at the break. The Broncos' bench was instrumental early, scoring 18 points in the opening half.

The second half was more of the same, as Fayetteville State extended its lead to 74-39 with 17:10 remaining. Bowie State managed to trim the margin slightly, but the Broncos never relinquished control, cruising to their highest scoring output of the season in the 108-80 victory.

The Broncos will return to action on Monday, January 12 at 8 p.m. when they host Lincoln (Pa.) inside Capel Arena.
