TIGERVILLE, SC -- Fayetteville State dropped its first match of the season Saturday, falling to North Greenville in four sets (21-25, 29-27, 22-25, 19-25) in non-conference action at Hayes Gymnasium.

The Broncos (2-1) were led by Symone Morris, who posted a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs. Chiara Vittoni also tallied 14 kills, while Giovanna Teixeira paced the offense with a match-high 26 assists.

On defense, Jasmine Culp contributed 11 digs and Milana Cvetkovski added five blocks for Fayetteville State. Amihan Johnson led the team with three service aces.

Fayetteville State dropped the opening set 25-21 after a tightly contested start that featured seven ties. North Greenville gained the upper hand at 15-14 and maintained control through the remainder of the set. The Broncos bounced back in the second, rallying from an eight-point deficit to edge out a 29-27 win and even the match. In the third, Fayetteville State again fought from behind but couldn't complete the comeback, falling 25-22. The fourth set saw nine ties, but North Greenville pulled away late to secure a 25-19 win and the match.

Haley Freeman led North Greenville with a match-high 16.5 points, including 13 kills, 10 digs, and three service aces. Peyton Taylor also added 13 kills, while Samantha Ball contributed eight kills and a team-high 19 digs. Setter Allison Ball recorded a double-double with 22 assists and 14 digs.

The Broncos return to action next week as they continue their non-conference slate in Spartanburg, NC, for the Valkyries Invitational hosted by Converse University.
