SANFORD, N.C. (AP) — Sandhills Community College claimed the team title at the
Rodeo at the Ridge golf tournament hosted by Fayetteville State University, finishing with a three-round total of
+16 at Quail Ridge Golf Course.
The Patriots posted rounds of +11, -2, and +7 to edge Winston-Salem State (+31) and Bluefield State (+40) in the final standings. Chowan University (+49) and host Fayetteville State (+54) rounded out the top five.
Wyatt Beaver of Sandhills CC was named
Tournament MVP, finishing at
5-under par for the event. Beaver led the field with a steady performance across all three rounds, including a final-round 75 that secured his individual title.

All-Tournament Team are:
- Jack McCarthy (Fayetteville St.) – +2
- Godfrey Nsubuga (Winston-Salem St.) – +2
- Alexander Hambleton (Bluefield St.) – +3
- Vegas Melen (Sandhills CC) – +5
The event featured teams from across the CIAA and regional programs, including Virginia State (+65) and Elizabeth City State (+234). Quail Ridge played at 6,875 yards with a par of 72.
The FSU Broncos posted a team score of
+54 across three rounds, with scores of +26, +10, and +18.
Leading the way for Fayetteville State was
Sutton Dreier, who turned in a steady performance highlighted by an
even-par 72 in the final round. Dreier finished the tournament at
+5, tying for fifth individually and narrowly missing All-Tournament Team honors.
Donald Barnett matched Dreier's final-round score with a 72 of his own, finishing at
+11 overall.
Landon Cabingas and
Patricio Ramirez each posted
81s in the final round, ending at +19 and +21 respectively.
Andrew McCarver rounded out the team scoring with an 84 (+30).
Fayetteville State's team showed improvement in Round 2, shaving 16 strokes off its opening round score. However, a challenging final round prevented the Broncos from climbing higher in the standings.
Quail Ridge Golf Course played at 6,875 yards with a par of 72. The event served as a mid-season benchmark for the Broncos, who will return to action on October 11-12 at the SAS HBCU Championship Invitational in Cary, NC at the Prestonwood Country Club.
