FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville State University earned a decisive three-set sweep over Bowie State on Friday night at Felton J. Capel Arena, winning 25-21, 25-20, 25-16 to improve to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in CIAA play.

Senior outside hitter Chiara Vittoni led the Broncos with a match-high 15 kills and a .357 hitting percentage. Setter Giovanna Teixeira paced the offense with 28 assists and added two service aces, while Jasmine Culp anchored the defense with 11 digs.

Fayetteville State took control early in the first set, never trailing by more than five points and securing the lead for good at 14-13. The Broncos closed the frame with a kill from Vittoni and a ball-handling error by Bowie State to seal the 25-21 win.

In the second set, the Broncos jumped ahead 2-1 and never looked back. They built their largest lead at 15-7 and finished with 17 kills in the frame. Bowie State attempted to rally behind Lyric Snowden and Abena Asomani-Martin, but Fayetteville State's consistency at the net proved too strong.

The Broncos dominated the third set from the opening point, never trailing en route to a 25-16 victory. Fayetteville State closed the match with its largest lead of the night, ending on a kill from Vittoni and a Bowie State error.

Fayetteville State returns to action Saturday morning at 10 a.m. against Lincoln (Pa.) and again at 4 p.m. versus Virginia Union during the final day of the CIAA Roundup.
