Fayetteville State Sweeps Lincoln (Pa.) in CIAA Roundup Match

FAYETTEVILLE, NC -- Fayetteville State volleyball delivered a commanding three-set victory over Lincoln (Pa.) on Saturday morning, winning 25-16, 25-21, 25-5 at Felton J. Capel Arena to improve to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in CIAA play.

Senior outside hitter Chiara Vittoni led the Broncos with a match-high 10 kills and a .368 hitting percentage. Symone Morris and Amihan Johnson each added eight kills, with Johnson hitting an efficient .467. Jasmine Culp anchored the defense with a team-high 11 digs and served up a match-best five aces. Setter Chayse Daniels paced the offense with 16 assists.

Fayetteville State took control early in the first set, grabbing the lead at 4-3 and never trailing again. The Broncos built a nine-point cushion to close out the frame 25-16, aided by three service aces and a balanced attack.

In the second set, the Broncos again scored first and never trailed. They opened up a seven-point lead at 17-10 before Lincoln attempted a late push. Fayetteville State held firm, closing out the set 25-21 behind kills from Morris and Johnson.

The third set was all Broncos, as they overwhelmed Lincoln from the opening serve. Fayetteville State jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back, finishing with a 25-5 win—their largest margin of victory in a set this season. Culp and Teixeira combined for three service aces in the frame, while Vittoni and Johnson continued to dominate at the net.

Lincoln (Pa.), now 0-14 overall and 0-5 in CIAA play, was led by Elise Carter with six kills and Ashley Fru with 12 assists. Donavyn Morris contributed a team-high 13 digs and two aces, while Kaniece Wright added four kills.

Fayetteville State returns to action later Saturday afternoon against Virginia Union to close out the final day of the CIAA Roundup.
