GAME 1 | Winston-Salem 7, Fayetteville State 2
WINSTON-SALEM, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the Winston-Salem Rams 7-2 despite the efforts of Treja Patterson, who went 1-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. The Rams improved to 4-18 and 3-4 in conference play with the win.
Hana Mills (4-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (7-16, 1-6 CIAA).
Offensively, the Broncos were led by Patterson, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Olivia Jackson put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with a double. Xztashya Porter also helped out for Fayetteville State, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Patterson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fayetteville State and get them on the board.
The Rams then rallied to score seven runs and take a 7-1 lead before the Broncos got back on the board in the fifth. Fayetteville State picked up a run on Patterson's leadoff home run off of J. Thomas, which tightened the Rams lead to 7-2.
