GAME 1 | Fayetteville State 5, Livingstone 3

SALISBURY, N.C. --The Fayetteville State Broncos needed nine innings to get the job done, but pulled off the 5-3 extra-innings victory over the Livingstone Blue Bears Friday.

Freshman Camryn Alexander (1-1) started in the circle and picked up her first win of the season for Fayetteville State (8-17, 2-7 CIAA). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on seven hits, allowing six walks and striking out three.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Broncos got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Fayetteville State got an RBI single from junior Morgan Jackson, scoring sophomore Treja Patterson from third base.

The Blue Bears failed to push any runs across before the Broncos built on their lead in the fourth inning. Jackson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fayetteville State, which brought the Broncos lead to 2-0.

Fayetteville State's lead had evaporated once the seventh inning arrived and turned into a 3-2 Livingstone advantage, when the Broncos re-gained control at 5-3. The score remained 5-3 for the rest of the game, as Fayetteville State held on for the win.
