ELIZABETH CITY, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos fell 3-2 in an eight-inning matchup to the Elizabeth City State Vikings (5-7, 4-2 CIAA) Wednesday during the CIAA Round-up.
Kevana Deberry (2-6) started and took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (5-14, 1-4 CIAA). Hannah Mills was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going three innings, surrendering one run on one hit, walking none and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Broncos first put runs on the board in the third inning. Fayetteville State scored twice, with one run coming across on Claira Stone's single. Stone led the Broncos at the plate, going 1-for-4 with an RBI. Patterson hit a double inside her four at-bats. The Broncos were unable to hold the lead, as Elizabeth City State scored two times over the remaining five innings to grab the 3-2 win.
