Fayetteville State never trails in 2-1 victory against Winston-Salem

GAME 2 | Fayetteville State 2, Winston-Salem 1

FAYETTEVILLE, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never surrendered the advantage on the way to a 2-1 victory against the Winston-Salem Rams on Tuesday.

Junior BreAnna Steele (4-5) got the win for Fayetteville State (15-17, 10-5 CIAA). The southpaw went seven innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out four.

Sophomore Olivia Jackson led the way offensively for the Broncos, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame. Sophomore Morgan Jackson compiled a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4.

The Rams fall to 19-10 overall and 12-3 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Broncos got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Sophomore Olivia Jackson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fayetteville State and get them on the board.

The Rams then tied the ballgame at one before the Broncos came back to reclaim their advantage in the fifth inning. Sophomore Morgan Jackson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fayetteville State, which brought the Broncos lead to 2-1. The score remained 2-1 for the rest of the game, as Fayetteville State held on for the win.
