FAYETTEVILLE, NC --Freshman Jameyah Mars was dealing on Friday, hurling a two-hit shutout to lead the Fayetteville State Broncos past the Livingstone (1-11, 1-11 CIAA) Blue Bears 7-0.
Mars (4-1) went the distance for Fayetteville State (8-15, 3-3), giving up two hits, walking one and striking out five.
First-year student-athlete Angelica Locklear led the way offensively for the Broncos, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with two home runs, a walk and two RBI. Freshman DeMya Brown compiled a standout effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Senior Makyiah Mitchell also helped out, going 1-for-3 for Fayetteville State with two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos took the lead for good in the fifth, scoring for the first time in the inning. Fayetteville State hit two home runs in the inning on the way to scoring six runs.
The Broncos also added a run in the sixth inning to complete their scoring in the ballgame.
