GAME 2 | North Carolina-Pembroke 13, Fayetteville State 7
PEMBROKE, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos got a boost from Angel Johnson, who totaled three hits in a 13-7 loss to the University North Carolina Pembroke Braves Saturday.
BreAnna Steele (1-4) came out of the bullpen for Fayetteville State (3-12 overall) and took the loss.
In addition to her three hits, Johnson had two RBI to lead the Broncos. Angelica Locklear furnished a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Morgan Jackson also contributed for Fayetteville State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Fayetteville State's offense started clicking and put up six runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Johnson.
The Broncos lost the lead they built in the second, but got back on the board in the fourth trailing 10-6. Fayetteville State pushed across a run on Locklear's two-out RBI double, which brought the score to 10-7 in favor of the Braves. The Broncos were unable to get any closer, as North Carolina-Pembroke added three runs to their tally on the way to a 13-7 final.
