PEMBROKE, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos fell 2-1 in an eight-inning matchup to the UNC Pembroke Braves Saturday.
Braynka Brown (0-5 overall) took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (3-11 overall). Hannah Mills started the ballgame and went seven innings, surrendering two runs, one earned, on seven hits.
At the plate, the Broncos were led by Treja Patterson, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Tanika Powell furnished a standout performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos got on the scoreboard first, starting in the fourth inning. Patterson put Fayetteville State on the board with a leadoff home run off M. Dyson. The Broncos were unable to hold the lead, as North Carolina-Pembroke scored two times over the remaining four innings to grab the 2-1 win.
