Hartsville, SC (Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field) --The Fayetteville State Broncos struggled on Thursday, falling to the Coker Cobras by final score of 8-1 in the final game of the season-opener doubleheader.
Braynika Brown (0-1 as a pitcher) started and took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (0-2 overall). At the plate, the Broncos were led by Tanika Powell, who went 1-for-3 at the plate with a scored run from Makyiah MItchell's RBI. Dakota Smith also went 1-for-3 on the day.
Coker (6-1 overall) was led offensively by Brooklyn Stueness, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
The Broncos were trailing 4-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Tanika Powell came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fayetteville State and get them on the board. The Broncos were unable to get any closer, as Coker added four runs to their tally on the way to an 8-1 final.
