GAME 2 | Saint Andrews (NC) 5, Fayetteville State 4
LAURINBURG, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos fell 5-4 in an eight-inning matchup to the Saint Andrews (NC) Knights Tuesday.
Jameyah Mars started and took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (2-7 overall). Braynka Brown was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going three innings, surrendering two runs, one earned, on two hits, walking none and striking out two.
Olivia Jackson led the way offensively for the Broncos, going 2-for-2 in the ballgame with two RBI. Dakota Smith provided a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Angel Johnson also helped out, going 2-for-3 for Fayetteville State with a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Fayetteville State got an RBI single from Smith, scoring Johnson from third base.
The Broncos lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the seventh trailing 3-1. Fayetteville State picked up two runs when a single from Jackson scored Morgan Jackson and Johnson, which brought the score level at 3-3.
That 3-3 tie turned into a 4-3 Fayetteville State lead in the eighth. The Broncos were unable to hold the lead, as Saint Andrews (NC) scored two times in the bottom half of the eighth to grab the 5-4 win.
