GAME 2 | Winston-Salem 4, Fayetteville State 3
WINSTON-SALEM, NC --It was a close one on Monday, as the Fayetteville State Broncos was unable to push that tying run across, and came up one run short of victory, falling to the Winston-Salem Rams (8-8, 5-3 CIAA) 4-3.
Braynka Brown (5-6) got the ball to start for Fayetteville State (12-14, 7-3 CIAA) and took the loss. BreAnna Steele was a bright spot for the Broncos, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two innings, giving up one run on one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts.
Angel Johnson led the way offensively for the Broncos, going 2-for-2 in the ballgame with a double. Grace Vincent put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Brianna Crosby also chipped in, going 2-for-3 for Fayetteville State.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos were trailing 1-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Crosby came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fayetteville State and get them on the board.
The Rams broke the tie and re-took the lead heading into the fifth inning, when the Broncos got back on the scoreboard. Johnson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fayetteville State, which brought the score to 3-2 in favor of the Rams.
Fayetteville State held the Rams off the board before rallying to tie it up at three in the sixth. The Broncos scored once on an RBI single off the bat of . Winston-Salem then scored one time over the remaining one inning to break the tie and grab the 4-3 win.
