GAME 1 | Winston-Salem 2, Fayetteville State 1
WINSTON-SALEM, NC --Fayetteville State pitchers allowed only two, but the Broncos could not muster the offense to take advantage, losing to the Winston-Salem Rams by the score of 2-1 on Monday.
BreAnna Steele (6-8) started and took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (12-13, ). The right-hander went five innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on eight hits, allowing one walk and striking out four. Braynka Brown started the ballgame and went one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.
At the plate, the Broncos were paced by Morgan Jackson, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a triple. Grace Vincent compiled a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the third inning. Jackson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fayetteville State and get them on the board. The Broncos were unable to hold the lead, as Winston-Salem scored two times over the remaining four innings to grab the 2-1 win.
