RALEIGH, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos picked up a win in walk-off fashion, rallying to score two in the bottom of the seventh after Virginia Union took the lead in the top half, sealing the victory on a two-run single off the bat of Brianna Crosby to knock off the Panthers 4-3 Sunday.
BreAnna Steele (5-7) got the win for Fayetteville State (10-12, 5-1). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on six hits, allowing one walk and striking out four.
At the plate, the Broncos were paced by Laniyah Bethea, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and two RBIs. Crosby furnished a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos were trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Fayetteville State plated two runs when Bethea left the yard with Olivia Jackson aboard.
Virginia Union then rallied to take a 3-2 lead before Fayetteville State scored two runs in the bottom half of the seventh to grab the win, walking it off on a two-run single off the bat of Crosby.
