Virginia State 11, Fayetteville State 3
RALEIGH, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the Virginia State Trojans by final score of 11-3.
Sophomore BreAnna Steele (2-7) started and took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (5-12, 0-1 CIAA ).
In the batter's box, the Broncos were led by senior Grace Vincent, who went 0-for-2 on the day with two RBIs. Senior Angel Johnson put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-1 with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos were trailing 1-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Fayetteville State picked up a pair of runs in the frame.
The Trojans then rallied to score two runs and take a 3-2 lead before the Broncos got back on the board in the third. Fayetteville State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Johnson, which brought the score level at 3-3. Virginia State then scored eight times over the remaining two innings to break the tie and grab the 11-3 win.
