Final Stats
FAYETTEVILLE - Amber Mitchell (Red Springs, NC) finished her last home CIAA match in style on Thursday.
Fayetteville State's lone senior won both her singles and doubles matches and helped FSU sweep Livingstone, 9-0, 9-0.
The matches were FSU's second and third 9-0 wins of the season.
In the first match, Shantana Donegan (Brooklyn, NY) topped Corinthia Flood 8-0 in No. 1 singles, while freshmen Kristy Mitchell (Fayetteville, NC), Schanelle Ebanks (Irvington, NJ) and Tiane Ellis (Fayetteville, NC) each won their matches 8-2.
Jensine McMillan, FSU's No. 6 singles player, won her match 9-7.
Doubles play saw the team of Donegan and Kristy Mitchell best Flood and Winnie Chepchumba 8-1, Amber Mitchell and Ellis down Melissa Massy and Gabriel Dewberry 8-2 while Ebanks and Danielle Boone won their match 8-4.
In the second match, Donegan beat Flood 8-0, Kristy Mitchell outlasted Chepchumba 8-1, Ellis beat Dewberry 8-1. Ebanks bested her opponent 8-3 while Boone won 8-6.
Amber Mitchell, paired with Donegan, beat Flood and Chepchumba 8-1 in doubles play while Kristy Mitchell and Ellis topped Massey and Dewberry 8-1. Ebanks and McMillan won their match 8-1.
FSU will close out the regular season on Saturday when it hosts the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
