Bowie, MD – Fayetteville State improves to 1-2 overall on the season with a 6-1 decision over Bowie State in the conference opener in Bowie, Maryland.
The Broncos won the doubles point and five of the six single's positions.
Lauryn Clark and
Zyaja Mattocks defeated Tamia Byrom and Kamari Eason 8-5 at the No 2 spot.
Kristin Jackson and
Jayla Wooten defeated Jatiya Stewart and Bianca Tucker 8-2 at No. 3.
Arnisha Cosby won the No. 2 Singles 6-1, 6-0 over Kayla Bridgett and
Kayla Williams fought off Tamia Byrom in a 5-2, 7-6 win at the No. 3. Clark defeated Stewart 2-1, 6-6 No. 4 and Wooten won 7-5, 6-3 over Eason at No. 5. Mattocks swept Tucker 6-0, 6-0 at the final No. 6 Singles position.
Bowie State (0-1 overall) won at the No. 1 Singles with Devinity Apollon capturing a 6-0, 6-1 victory over
Kristin Jackson.
Fayetteville State will face off against Elizabeth City State tomorrow (Sunday, March 8) in Rocky Mount, NC.
