Columbia, SC – Fayetteville State women's tennis traveled to Columbia, South Carolina for a non-conference match with the Benedict Tigers (6-2 overall) and returned with a 9-0 loss.
The Broncos (0-2 overall) were led by the #3 doubles combo of
Lauryn Clark and
Zyaja Mattocks who were defeated 8-3 by Shakendra Alston and Olivia Simms.
Preseason All-CIAA standout
Arnisha Cosby had a good bout in the #1 singles match against Beverly Matsiwe, even though the Tigers won 6-2, 6-1. Clark faced the same score in her #4 singles defeat to Alston.
Fayetteville State will travel to Bowie, Maryland for its first conference matchup of the season against Bowie State University on March 7th. The Broncos will meet Elizabeth City State the following day in Rocky Mount for a 2:00 pm match.
