CHOWAN GETS THE BEST OF BRONCOS, 8-1

MURFREESBORO, NC - The Fayetteville State women's tennis team fell, 8-1, to Chowan University in CIAA Western Division action on Thursday afternoon. Shantana Donegan picked up the only win for the Broncos (2-8 overall, 1-7 in the CIAA) with an 8-5 decision over Amanda Spaulding in the #1 singles match. The Hawks swept all three doubles matches and took five out of six singles matches to cruise to the win.

Donegan - a freshman from Brooklyn, NY - leads the team with an overall singles record of 3-7 and conference of 1-5. Paired with Kristy Mitchell (freshman - Fayetteville, NC), the two has a record of 1-8 overall. Amber Mitchell (sophomore - Red Springs, NC) was defeated 8-2 by Kashae Beverley in the #2 singles position. The most experienced of the Broncos, Amber previously led the team but now has an identical record as Donegan.

The Broncos will be back on the court on Tuesday, when they host Johnson C. Smith at 1 p.m.
