Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville State University women's team added two more victories to their season total in their last home match with 5-4 and 7-2 doubleheader wins over Livingstone College on Wednesday afternoon from the tennis courts at Capel Arena.
The Lady Broncos received singles victories from sophomore Ines Nieves, senior Constance Lee, and sophomore Tyima Johnson in both matches of the day. Senior LeJacquelyn Artis was absence for the first match, but earned an 8-0 victory over Livingstone's Salome Randolph at the No.3 singles position in the second match.
Freshman Samantha Meeks and sophomore Chekimbrell Jefferson split their singles matches in the conference doubleheader. When teamed together, Meeks and Jefferson won 8-4 at the No.3 doubles position in the second match over Lisa Donatien and Rashel Boone.
Nieves and Lee teamed up for a doubles victory at the No. 1 position in the first match. In the second match, Nieves and Artis took down Tamisha Hurley and Jasmine Allen 8-2 at the No.1 doubles position.
The Lady Broncos improve to 15-6 overall and 12-1 in the CIAA. They finish the regular season with a 10-4 mark at home. Fayetteville State heads toward Ettrick, VA for the 7th Annual CIAA Tennis Championships. Matches begin Wednesday morning at the tennis courts on the campus of Virginia State University.
