Results

Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville State University women's tennis team end their spring break on a high note, sweeping a twin bill over Bowie State University Thursday at Capel Arena's tennis complex. The Lady Broncos tossed two shutouts with 9-0 victories over the Lady Bulldogs.

The FSU women did not drop a set Thursday. Sophomore Ines Nieves defeated Bowie State freshman Kyara Lombre 6-2, 6-1 at the number one singles position. Nieves has won her last three singles matches.

Later in the day, Nieves teamed with junior LeJacquelyn Artis to defeat Lombre and senior Angelica Barrett 8-1 at the number one doubles flight in both matches of the double header. Artis defeated BSU freshman Marina Palma 6-1, 6-2 at the number three singles position. The Lady Broncos' match-up against Bowie State was the first conference competition of the season.

Fayetteville State travels to Charlotte, NC Tuesday, March 11th to face Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Johnson C. Smith University. The first serve at the JCSU tennis facility is slated for 2 pm.
